Purpose-Driven Brand Marketing Leader
Learn moreABOUT SHARON FEDER
Hi, I'm Sharon, and I run brand marketing at ZOE, a health science startup that uses cutting-edge technology and the latest research to help people understand how their body responds to food so they can eat with confidence.
Throughout my career, I've built mission-oriented brands as a C-level leader, including Mashable, where as one of the company's first employees, I built out the Editorial, Community, and People teams. Over my five years at Mashable, I went from features editor to COO, creating a creative and inclusive company culture, building innovative programs and partnerships that brought Mashable to a broader audience, and developing accessible content that spoke to a generation eager to connect and understand social media and technology.
While I was at Mashable, I had the incredible experience of building and hosting The Social Good Summit in partnership with 92Y and the UN Foundation, and became a collaborator and friend of Henry Timms, then-executive director of 92Y. Henry had a game-changing idea: “We have a day for giving thanks, a day (or two!) for getting deals, why not a day for giving back?” I joined Henry and a small group of industry leaders as a founding member to create #GivingTuesday, working on the foundational strategy and calling on my network to participate in year one and then supporting it in its next few years. Together, we created a global movement around generosity that has driven billions of dollars to important causes.
My work at Mashable and #GivingTuesday allowed me to explore the convergence of community, content, and giving at scale. I was excited to keep exploring these themes in new spaces. In 2013, I joined Rachael Ray’s holding company, Watch Entertainment, to work across the celebrity home cook’s traditional media businesses, manufacturing lines, and philanthropies to drive digital adoption and investment. In the process, I relaunched Rachael Ray Digital, worked in partnership with animal rescue organizations to donate millions to efforts aligned with our mission, and supported the launch of new consumer businesses. And I learned how to cook in the process; Thanks, Rach!
In 2016, I joined the career startup The Muse, a company where I had been a long-time advisor, as Chief Content Officer to lead editorial and build an in-house creative studio focused on employer brand and recruitment marketing. The experience allowed me to spend every day in the future of work, bringing together my passion for company culture, community, and content. During my time at The Muse, I developed content-driven products in partnership with Fortune 500 companies to improve the candidate experience of millions of job seekers worldwide.
